SERVICOM: Federal Polytechnic, Ukana inaugurates unit
The Rector Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, Dr Uduak S. Ukekpe says his administration is committed to quality service delivery to drive the institution forward and make it a centre for academic excellence.
The Rector stated this, during the inauguration of the Service Compact Unit (SERVICOM) Federal Polytechnic, Ukana Chapter held at the Annex Campus of the Polytechnic.
Dr Ukekpe stressed that the role of SERVICOM Unit in the Polytechnic system can never be overemphasised. Hence, the reason for this inauguration. “We appointed you into the Servicom Unit based on merit and we believe the unit will no doubt accelerate into the realization of the Polytechnic’s vision”.He noted.
The Polytechnic boss, charged members of the SERVICOM Unit to lead an exemplary life. ” You are like a watchdog in the system, so you have to identify lapses very fast and rectify them before they cause mayhem. Endeavour as members of Servicom Unit to put in a positive attitude to work so that it can speak volumes of you and the unit”. He added.
He assured the SERVICOM Unit of management support, stating that provision of an office will be made for the Unit at the Main Campus of the Polytechnic to ensure smooth operation. He again, charged them to swim into action immediately after their inauguration, re-emphasizing that the function of SERVICOM Units is not to sanction but to fine-tune things in the right direction.
He congratulated the newly inaugurated SERVICOM Unit members and charged them to take appropriate steps to ensure effective service delivery in the institution.
The high point of the inauguration was the symbolic decoration of Mr Philip Archibong as the Focal Officer for the Polytechnic by the Rector.
The SERVICOM Unit members inaugurated are Mr Archibong Philips Umoh as Chairman, Miss Elizabeth Uko Adams as Desk Officer and Mr Daniel Aniekan, Mrs Chioma Gabriella Ndiokwere, Mr Philip Effiom Archibong as members.
Responding, the Chairman of the SERVICOM Unit Mr Archibong, Philip Umoh thanked the Rector and the Management team for the confidence reposed in them to pioneer the affairs of the SERVICOM Unit of the Polytechnic. He promised that the team will discharge their duties appropriately without fear or favour.
The Registrar of Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, Dr Okon John Ekanem submitted that the SERVICOM team have an important task to carry out. ” We demand an effective change in service delivery in the institution, especially in the area of workers attitude to work” he posited.
Also in attendance, were the Deputy Rector, Mr Elijah E. Etuk, amongst others.
