The statement reads in parts, “We are moved to call this press conference to bring to the attention of the press and public, the carnage and consistent attacks on the members and supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party in Akpabuyo Local Government Area since Sunday 5th February 2023″”
He said, “You will recall that on Tuesday 24th January 2023 when our party held its governorship campaign rally in Akpabuyo, miscreants sponsored by the All Progressive Congress attempted to disrupt by firing gunshots within the venue. That attempt was swiftly contained by the security officers who accompanied our campaign team to the LGA””

“”We similarly wish to bring to the notice of the security operatives that: “On about 8.15 pm, Hon Joseph Bassey and a certain Cyril Anthony, without any provocation led a team of miscreants to destroy billboards of PDP candidates displayed within the private residence of Mr Amanso Okon Etim they did not stop at that, they went further to break into his private residence and destroyed his household properties, little did they know at the time of the attack, Mr Amanso was in Calabar attending a party meeting””
“Therefore at this juncture, we are calling on the security agencies to urgently as a matter of utmost importance take action to secure lives and properties in the area and also arrest those who have been identified and reported to them as the perpetrators of these wicked acts. We want to state categorically clear that we cannot guarantee the continued patience of our supporters if nothing is done to protect them as they may be forced to protect themselves”
Dr Jarves further stated “We call on the leaders of the APC in the state and Akpabuyo LGA, who are the sponsors of these acts of brigandage to stop forthwith as we are prepared for the much-awaited peaceful elections” the statement reads.
