Akwa Ibomites dare Governor Udom
As angry Nigerian youths intensify their search for the location of COVID-19 warehouses across the country, Akwa Ibomites have urged Governor Udom Emmanuel to, as a matter of urgency, commence the distribution of the state palliatives to the poor or risk being taken away by force.
Nigerian youths, who are unhappy with the way different state governments allegedly hoarded palliatives which were meant to cushion the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, have invaded warehouses and looted items stored therein in different states following the fallout of the EndSARS protest.
The most recent of the warehouses invasion is in Abuja where the warehouse in Gwagwalada was invaded in the early hours of Monday.
The irate youths had earlier raided warehouses in Cross River, Osun, Ekiti, Lagos, Kwara among other states. It was reported also that the Governor of Taraba State has also distributed the palliative amidst the nationwide crisis.
Recall that the EndSARS protest in Uyo had witnessed wanton destruction of both public and private properties as hoodlums infiltrated the protesters and wreaked havoc in the state capital.
Akwa Ibomites have taken to the social media to request from their governor to immediately commence the distribution of the palliatives before hoodlums invade and cart away the items meant for them.
Posting on his Timeline, a public commentator and co-publisher of the Global Concord Newspapers, Mr Solomon Johnny, said if by Tuesday, 27th October, 2020 the governor does not distribute the palliatives donated by CACOVID team, he shall publish the locations of the warehouses in the state for Akwa Ibomites to loot.
“Dear Akwa Ibom State Government, if by the end of tomorrow, the palliatives donated by CACovid team is not distributed, I shall publish the location sent to me by informed Government sources and I’m sure, hungry Akwa Ibomites shall mob the warehouse and feed.”
“You won’t blame me or any other person with this information of mismanaging it.
” I am a Journalist. I understand the need not to sensationalize any situation unlike what some folks are doing against the President and the Federal Government at this time.
“Call the team that distributed the FG palliative in June 2020 to villages across the state.
“Use that link and let the items get to the destination between today and tomorrow and in peace.
“I don’t know how else to be supportive and Patriotic than helping you to calm tension and avoid breakdown of law and order at this period,” he said.
