-Again, Akpabio’s loyalist bombs APC, says no reasonable person ‘ll belong to party
-Alhaji Aminu Ebong insists APC lacks reward system and cohesion
-According to him, the party is factionalised, positing that no reseanable person will belong to APC
One of the core loyalists of the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio who recently defected from the All Progressive Congress (APC) to PDP, Alhaji Aminu Ebong, has taken APC in Akwa Ibom State to the cleaners.
Alhaji Ebong who finally opened up on the circumstances surrounding his defection to PDP on Wednesday, October 14th, 2020, outlined more reasons he can no longer associate with APC in the state.
Alhaji Aminu Ebong recalled that he jumped into APC ship in 2019 but expressed regret over the move, maintaining that the ideology of APC did not tally with his vision for the people as that of the PDP, hence his return to the party.
Although Alhaji Ebong had earlier admitted the role played by the member representing Abak State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. (Dr.) Udeme Otong in his return to PDP, he posited that he was already fed up with APC’s antics and tactics.
The ace journalist, who defected to APC in the build up to the 2019 general elections, observed that he was attracted to party by his friend, Senator Godswill Akpabio but averred that he was disappointed by what he experienced in the party, especally at the state level.
“To be frank, I was not even a card-carrying member of APC. The truth is that I was in their midst because of of my friend, Chief God’s will Akpabio. Regrettably, I later discovered that APC is not a place to be. In fact, no reasonable person will belong to APC,” Alhaji Aminu Ebong maintained.
Alhaji Aminu Ebong insisted APC lacks reward system and cohesion, noting that those at the helms of affairs in the party at the state only think of themselves and their immediate families.
According to him, the party is factionalised, positing that there is no way APC can make inroad in Akwa Ibom State.
The publisher of the Candour Newspaper described his return to The Peoples’ Democratic Party as a home coming, pointing out that it will take APC decades to make any breakthrough in Akwa Ibom and South South.
“PDP is my home and the party of South South. The party is well rooted in the state and has spread her tentacles across every community in the state. PDP is like religion in Akwa Ibom where men and women of character and integrity belong and lacks such men of goodwill. It is hard to beat such reach,” he observed.
