Unyime Idem to empower 1,000 constituents
The member representing Ukanafun/ Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, Hon. Unyime Idem has disclosed that the first 1,000 out of the 5,000 beneficiaries of his skill acquisition empowerment program will be provided with facilities in December this year to enable them to be self sustained. He has also revealed that two training centers, one in Ukanafun and the other one in Oruk Anam enable constituents trained in 20 different skills, will be ready for use in December this year.
Hon. Idem stated this on Saturday in his country home, Usung Atiat shortly after voting in his unit during the local government election conducted by the Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission, AKISIEC.
He said “What we are planning to do this December is that 1,000 of the beneficiaries will be provided with facilities that will enable them start their lives and become self reliance”.
The National Assembly member who is Vice Chairman, House Committee on Communication said that the training of the 5,000 beneficiaries and provision of facilities is spread across a period of three years.
This, according to him is that 1,000 that are already undergoing training will be provided with facilities in December 2020; 1,500 beneficiaries will be trained and provided with tools in 2021; another 1,500 beneficiaries will be trained and provided with tools in 2022, while the last batch of beneficiaries will be trained and provided with facilities in 2023.
He noted that his representation at the Green Chambers has departed from the old ways of doing things in Ukanafun where “promises would be made but fulfilling the promise would be impossible”
While commending his constituents especially the youths for ensuring that peace return to the area, he charged them to make good use of the opportunity provided and acquire skills to enable them to be self reliance.
Reacting to the conduct of the local government election, he expressed gratitude to God for making the exercise to be peaceful.
He also appreciated Ukanafun people for conducting themselves in an orderly manner.
“Today’s election is one of the most peaceful election in the history of the State. The people of Ukanafun conducted themselves in a peaceful manner. Again, the electorates are happy with the current leaders that would emerge today. It is a new era for the people of Ukanafun”.
He appreciated the efforts of Governor Udom Emmanuel in ensuring that the there is peace in the area.
