Enconmiums as Supol Akpabio bags Award Of Excellence from kinsmen
It was celebration galore on Sunday,14th February, 2021 as conglomerate of Essien Udim youths led by its leader, Comrade Raymond Ekpe gathered on a valentine day to honour one of their own, Mr Idorenyin Akpabio, a Chief Superintendent of Police ( CSP) elevated recently.
The well attended epoch event which took place at Bonotel Hotel conference hall, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area witnessed load of tributes lavished on Supol Akpabio whom the youths described as a ” true ambassador of Essien Udim” other wise known as the city of the great kings.
Setting the ball rolling, the lead convener, Comrade Raymond Ekpe told the gathering that the rising exploits of Supol Akpabio in crime bursting and his recent promotion by the police hierarchy has not gone unnoticed, having distinguished himself in his chosen career we deem it fit to honour him today.
“We urged him to continue his good works as the sky can only be his limits, he noted.
Ekpe used the medium on behalf of the entire youths to congratulate Supol Akpabio on his well deserved promotion to the rank of Chief Superintendent of police.
He also lauded Barr Ukpong Akpabio, Commissioner for Trade and Investment for his youth friendly disposition even as his timely assistance to the youths is second to none alongside the chairman of Essien Udim LGA,Mr Tony Luke who are youth products they are proud of.
Responding, the elated recipient, Supol Idorenyin Akpabio thanked his kinsmen for the honour done him, adding that truly, it is a confirmation that charity begins at home.
“I,m shock that a police officer can be singled out for an award of excellence instead of politicians that is the norm, to God be the glory,” he concluded with emotion laden song.
He expressed gratitude to Essien Udim youth leadership for recognizing his efforts in curbing crime in the society even as he promised never to rest on his oars .
Akpabio who once held sway as the youth president of Ukana clan however, used the platform to advise the youths to shun criminality and rather indulge in positive ventures for better future.
The honouree who hails from Ukana Ikot Ntuen in Essien Udim LGA is a graduate of computer science from the University of Uyo, happily married with children.
It would be recalled that Supol Akpabio before his recent promotion has held different positions within and outside Akwa Ibom State Police command to include, the DPO Ibesikpo division, DPO Itam, 2nd in command, Ikot Ekpene Area command and presently officer in charge of anti terrorism squad at the state police headquarters, Uyo.
Other speakers who poured enconmiums on the gallant cop include,Hon.Nsikak Akpan, Councilor representing Ukana west ward 2, Hon. Edemekong Christopher,SA to governor who doubles as youth caucus chairman, Hon.Sunday Alexander, Councilor representing Odoro Ikot ward 2, Mr Benard idio, a media practitioner, Hon.Akan Okon, former supervisor and Hon.Idongesit Wilcox amongst others.
Special highlight was the presentation of award plaque to the awardee, Supol Akpabio by Mr Raymond Ekpe amidst thunderous ovations.
