Guber 2023: I’ll lead according to Benue people’s aspirations – Akase
Prominent governorship aspirant on the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP platform, Mr Terver Akase has reaffirmed his readiness to lead Benue State according to the yearnings and aspirations of the people if given an opportunity to govern the State come 2023.
He stated this while speaking to newsmen at the inter-denominational Church Thanksgiving Service, held Sunday (December 12) in honour of the new PDP National Chairman, Senator Dr Iyorchia Ayu at Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi.
Mr Akase said as someone who understands the challenges of the State, his leadership approach will be predicated on doing what offers the people fulfillment in all sectors of the State’s economy.
He congratulated Dr Ayu on his successful inauguration as the PDP National Chairman, and expressed confidence in his ability to lead the party to victory in the forthcoming polls.
In a remark, Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, described the National Chairman as a seasoned politician who has come prepared with a rescue agenda to salvage the nation, calling on people of the State to support him to succeed.
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State noted that history beckons on Dr Ayu to bring his wealth of experience to offer credible leadership for the party to take over power and restore the country’s national glory.
Speaking, the PDP National Chairman, Dr Ayu encouraged Nigerians not to lose hope, saying the party under his leadership is determined to mobilise all members to unite and rebuild the country, “we shall lead Nigeria back to victory”, he said.
He pledged to be an effective team player to strengthen the fortunes of the party ahead of the 2023 general elections, pointing out the party will field credible candidates and a strong manifesto that will be implemented for the benefit of Nigerians.
Earlier in a word of exhortation, Catholic Bishop of Makurdi Diocese, Most Reverend Wilfred Anagbe, CMF stated that Dr Ayu’s emergence as National Chairman is a product of God’s grace, hence the need for thanksgiving and admonished him to remain humble and magnanimous in victory.
The Bishop emphasised that Nigeria needs leaders who have futuristic approach to solve problems, saying Dr Ayu has emerged National Chairman at a critical moment in the nation’s history, and urged him to use his new position to serve the people.
Former Presidents of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki, Dr David Mark as well as Senator Philip Aduda and the Minority Leader, House of Representatives, Rt Hon Ndudi Elumelu among others also delivered good messages at the occasion.
