Essien Udim Council Chairman harps on love, care for Nigerian heroes
…Reiterates commitment to security of lives, property
The worship hall of the Qua Iboe Church, Afaha, Ikot Ebak was filled to its capacity as members of Nigerian Legion, Essien Udim people and the Executive Council of the Local Government Area led by the Chairman, Mr Anthony Luke converged for the Christian Interdenominational Service in commemoration of 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration.
In his good will message, the Essien Udim Council Chairman, Mr Anthony Luke who thanked God for preserving the lives of the Nigerian Heroes promised to take special care of the aged among them to make live better for them in appreciation for their sacrifice and selfless services to the Nigerian nation.
The Council boss who promised to embarked on house to house visit to the weak members of the legion to support and encourage them, posited that the aged deserve love and care to be able to live a happy life.
Luke commended the heroes for staking their lives for the unity and territorial integrity of the Nigerian nation also charged parents to take good care of their children who will inturn cater for them in old age.
The Council helmsman reiterated his resolve to get the area rid of all kinds of criminalities and insecurity just as he promised to make the place safe for every social activity to flourish while commending Governor Udom Emmanuel for his commitment to the security of lives and property of Akwa Ibom people.
He warned everyone with criminal intentions to relocate and leave Essien Udim as he will not hesitate to arrest and prosecute anyone arrested for armed robbery, kidnaping and social vices.
In his address, the Chairman, Nigerian Legion, Essien Udim Chapter, Mr Aniekan Nyah who thanked God for protecting them while in service and after retirement and for the sustenance despite numerous challenges of life.
He commended the Council Chairman for his support and encouragement towards the welfare and well being of the heroes especially the weak and the aged.
Nyah pledged the partnership of the Nigerian Legion in Essien Udim to the Local Government Council to secure the area.
In his Sermon, the host Pastor, Elder Augustine Amiang said God has always had good intention for mankind but Satan always tried to subvert the will of God to mankind through his lies, temptation and manipulations.
The man of God stressed that satan likes to take advantage of the frailty and vulnerability of man to cause him to disobey God and cause man to sin against God.
He added that satan intentionally introduced sin as an instrument to contaminate the good relationship between man and God and to rob human-race of the blessings and peace of God.
The Pastor charged worshippers to resist the devil and flee from every appearance of evil in order to have good relationship with God adding that Jesus came to restore man back to God.
While welcoming the Council Chairman and his entourage, the Pastor described Mr Anthony Luke as the “Solomon of this generation” who has come to bless the people, the Church and also be blessed in the presence of God.
Amiang who expressed gratitude to the Chairman and the Nigerian Legion for chosen the Church for the 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Thanksgiving Service, described the Chairman as a simple, down-to-earth, unassuming and humble gentleman praying God to honour him as he honoured God and grant his administration success.
The service was also graced by the Wife of the Executive Chairman, Mrs Umo Anthony Luke, the Vice Chairman of Council, Hon. Emem Ekarika, the Secretary of Council, Mr Nyom Ataha, members of the Essien Udim Legislative Council led by the Leader, Hon. Mary R. Charles, the Political Leader of Afaha Ward, Hon. Suyienkekere Inokon, Special Assistants to the Governor, the Head of Council, youth and women groups.
