The Social Investment programme Cash Transfer Unit in conjunction with National Cash Transfer Office (NCTO), Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, today flagged off the payment of the conditional cash transfer to benefitting households in Ikono.
The event, a social intervention programme of the federal government took place at the Holy Child Primary School, Nung Udoe Itak, Ikono LGA and saw 2954 households in Ikono benefit.
In his address, the Executive Chairman of Ikono LGC, Honourable Itoro Columba welcomed the dignitaries on behalf of Ikono people stating that Ikono was privileged to be one of the 9 Local Governments in the State to be selected.
The Council Boss noted that as a son of Ikono and protege of the Governor, he was proud of the wonderful things his Boss had done which had attracted positive attention to the State, describing him as a forward looking and people centric Governor who had the people at heart. Furthermore, he maintained that the event was quite symbolic and will remain memorable in the annals of the Local Government.
The event had in attendance the Honourable Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq, Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Moses Ekpo, Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, Executive Chairman of Ikono LGC, Hon. Itoro Columba and a host of other dignitaries.
